Yosemite Valley always rocks in the fall! I pulled over and it was overcast with little going on, but I had seen the colorful dogwood tree, and I had a hunch that the weather could break. As I was getting our compositions, focus and depth of field worked out, boom, a shaft of sunlight provided a spotlight on the face of El Cap!

The conditions were stunning on this trip, capping off a 2017 season that had been very productive for me photograph…
