Storm Building in Yosemite Valley

I don't even recall what prompted +Lori Hibbett and I to head over Tioga Pass on this late September afternoon, but we found stunning conditions in Yosemite Valley when we arrived.

Completing my guide book to landscape photography in California from Yosemite south is keeping me pretty busy these days, but when I have a moment I'll get my Yosemite Fall workshop schedule up on my Web site: http://www.jeffsullivanphotography.com/blog/yosemite-national-park-photography-workshops/

  1. Great shot, Off topic but.. was hoping to do a day trip to Yosemite from Sf in a week on Sunday is it somewhat practical to get there at 9am or so and drive around or are there too many restrictions and crowds?

  2. +Tom Brander  The big tour buses typically arrive at the Tunnel View overlook, dump everyone out for pictures of themselves with the Valley in the background, then leave 10 minutes later and everyone on the bus has photos to prove that they "visited" Yosemite.  You'll be far better off, able to drive all the way into the Valley for a full lap or two, stop wherever you want, take your time, and marvel at spectacular views.  You'll be glad you visited.  If you're lucky you might see clouds like these forming in the afternoon, which only adds to the majesty of the place.
