Star Trails Over Bodie Jail

Yes, I went to jail last week, and it was great!  I saw lots of stars there.  May 25, 2014

We only have one night workshop date remaining with a decent amount of space left, the workshop I recently added on Saturday, October 4:

That will also be a decent week for Fall colors, so I'll be adding an additional workshop mid-week for that in case you'd like to join us for the whole week.

  2. WOW! I haven't been by my fave plusers in a while. Great to see your outstanding work front & center in my feed Jeff. Just amazing. I so wish I could partake in a workshop w you.

  3. could you please you use what app to add all 60 pictures together or any afterwards? want to take a starttrail for parts of my photo class final project but has no clue. Thank you!

  4. +Samuel Klause I have an external interval timer (known as an intervalometer), which I set to initiate an exposure every 1 second.  But the camera is manually set to expose a photo for 30 seconds.  So in 1 second it takes the first photo for 30 seconds, then it waits one second and takes the next 30 second photo… repeat.  It goes until I stop the external timer, having shot a number of sequential 30 second photos.  I use a free image "stacking" program called StarStaX to identify the lightest pixels in the sequence of photos, effectively tracing the path of the stars through the sky
