Taurid Meteor Shower Peaks Tonight, Nov 11/12

Living under dark skies, it's easy for me to head out for every major meteor shower, and many of the minor ones as well when viewing conditions are good.  Here's a time-lapse video I captured at the peak of last year's Taurid meteor shower.
For best results, be sure and switch it into HD resolution using the gear icon at the lower right!

Tonight we'll have one of the more moderate meteor showers peaking, the Northern Taurids.  The most active time tends to be after midnight as the earth rotates us to a point where much of the sky above us is leading the earth in its path around the sun, colliding with more of the comet debris which creates meteor showers.  However, the moon will remain in the sky until roughly 1:30 am, so the best viewing times tonight will be 1:30 am until shortly after 5 am, when the sky starts getting brighter with the approach of dawn.
