Can't Wait To Go Back!

The weather forecast looks perfect for our return to Bodie tomorrow… partly cloudy with chance of thunderstorms into the evening, then it should clear for Milky Way and star trails after that.

Into the Night
We've had evening storms several times during our workshops at Bodie State Historic Park, and they've been great for catching sunset light. Fortunately they're driven by the sun's heat and convection currents in the air, so they tend to break up or blow away quickly once the sun sets.

We have a partly cloudy afternoon forecast with a chance of thunderstorms this week, so hopefully we'll get a little temporary sky drama for sunset, then have clear skies in time for the crescent moon moon set and for Milky Way shots after twilight. The Summer clouds have worked that way every time we've had them in Bodie so far.

This is a shot from our September 22 workshop, when we arrived to find scattered rain showers and rainbows. Bodie's iconic 1937 Chevrolet was still wet during blue hour and twilight, and you can still see a remnant of the storms catching the last bit of fading sunset color in the background. Enjoying conditions ranging from cloudy to golden hour light to starry skies, three people there with us that night won months in the Bodie Foundation calendar contest: +bert dennison, +Maximilian Laue, and +Lori Hibbett.  I was too busy to enter the contest, but I'm still finding new work like this from that night.

Hopefully our streak of great luck weather will continue when we return to the park this coming Friday night!
