Whoo Whoo?  Marc Briggs!

Google tells me it's his birthday, so I'm going to make a belated #SelflessSunday  share of the most recent photo posted by +Marc Briggs

This image resonates particularly well with me, since the owls in our neighborhood here in the Eastern Sierra are calling each other this week in the late evening and early morning.  (Apparently they like mood lighting as nesting season approaches.)  I just wish they'd catch more of the rodents stealing insulation from our cars to build their nests, and perhaps catch the thief who stole the pizza we put outside to stay cold when the fridge was full.

Check out more of Marc's photos if you have the chance… landscapes, seascapes, and animals (including a bobcat and a cute little coyote pup).
Happy birthday Marc!

My favorite little Owl, all cleaned up and hanging out on it's favorite perch.

I've been back twice since I posted the last image and the Owl has always been on the same branch of the Coyote bush.   This time I maneuvered myself into a new spot to try to get a different perspective.    The whole time I was there it just perched there…only occasionally blinking or turning it's head.   I finally got lucky here and caught it eying a passing White-tailed Kite.

  1. Thank Marc… sunrise/sunset could be great if we have broken clouds.  I don't know about Horsetail though, with all the clouds forecast for the next week or so.  Hopefully the Valley will get a nice coating of snow so visitors can at least run around and get Winter pics.
