Beautiful Vista…depressing Reality.

Wow that is ridiculous! And I thought $4.00 was unbearable. I am starting my first 365 Project, I guess that would be my "resolution."
I think that we should pay more for gas – closer to the real cost. If it is too much – we can not drive so much, or drive things that are much more efficient. The choices are ours – just my two pennies 🙂
Panamint Springs in Death Valley National Park +Brian Mitchell. Fortunately gas is "only" $5.02 in Furnace Creek!
Equivalent price here in the UK at the moment would be $8.18 a gallon. 🙂
There should be many people who can beat that too.
Is it not the case that if your government levied a bit more tax on fuel, then it would go a long way to easing it's debt problems, and could prevent cuts elsewhere?
+Tesla Motors for the win. 🙂
I paid $3.12 yesterday after my Credit Card discount, in Kentucky.
much difference when I travel across the west us, 3.xx to 5.9x
That station is just ridiculous. Stovepipe Wells isn't bad for how isolated it is.
Have a great 2013!

I would make that one too Jeff, all those CA. Taxes eating at you. It is terrible what they are doing to such a beautiful state. I lived out there for about 5 and a half years. Too expensive. Seen beautiful sites though. I will just keep looking at your photos and remembering for now. No resolutions, that way I will not break any.
+Barbara Opett This particular station is outside of Death Valley National Park. It's the only privately owned gas station for 100 miles or more in any direction. They're not allowed to price gouge this way in the national park.
ouch, I got gas In Furnace Creek for less then $5 on the 28th.
Solutions only!
That is terrible!
It's simple supply vs demand out in Death Valley 🙂
Just like to make enough to keep gas in the car so I can travel.
You don't even want to know what we pay in Europe +Jeff Sullivan. 😉
Can't wait to meet you this weekend +Joe Azure 🙂
Yes, Panamint Springs is a private entity so they are free go gouge on pricing.
Sorry I missed you guys…sucks that cell reception is so spotty in DV.
Hello, happy New Year
Great perspective, those mountains look amazing. Cheers Jon
Wow! East coast prices are looking really sweet! (NJ; $3.29)
nice
New Years resolution? Get my relationship back.
+Thad Szabo Thank You for the info. +Jeff Sullivan pictures are great!
Solar Energy cars
In the UK we are paying $8.56 a gallon already!
+Athena Carey, I think when +Lori Hibbett and I visited Turkey we were paying the equivalent of $12 – 14 / gallon, but I suspect that we saved a lot on food and lodging compared to going somewhere in the Euro zone.
There are certainly some tradeoffs living in a country with a Third World currency like the U.S. Thanks in part to our massive budget deficit (both over-spending and tax cuts), the U.S. Dollar has lost 50% of its value against many currencies such as the Australian and Aussie dollars in the past decade, which makes it particularly attractive to vacation closer to home.
Sorry to miss you +Marc Briggs. We like the location of Furnace Creek better than Stovepipe Wells, and the fact that cellular service tends to be available as you pass through that area. It is also the warmest area of the park, which can make a difference on a cold week like this one. That gravel parking lot "campground" at Stovepipe is the pits for tents.
No specific resolutions but a program and projects.
I did that last year and it worked.
