Welcome to our Yosemite National Park landscape photography overview page, as we enter our 15th season! Lori and Jeff live 90 minutes from Yosemite, and we have led workshops in the park on over 250 days. Yosemite Valley is all about light angles and times. We have collected over the years a portfolio of unique opportunities that depend upon very specific seasonal sun or moon positioning. We plan workshops around them, and we can lead you to the ones that will occur during our workshops. There are even some opportunities that we’ve been waiting for for many years, that we’ll pursue in 2026. Our reputation rides on your success. We work hard to make your superior results easy.

Yosemite Fall Colors Photography Workshop
October 24 – 29, 2026

We’ve vary timing of this workshop to catch peak color of various tree species from year to year. This workshop will include intimate and grand landscapes teeming with fall colors from pastel dogwoods, yellow willows and cottonwoods, and if we’re lucky the grand elm in Cook’s Meadow.  We can also spend time after dinner pursuing night photography in moonlit conditions it there’s interest. Fall colors nightscapes can be a nice addition to daytime fall landscapes.

This is one of our most popular Yosemite workshops and we only allow a maximum of 8 people to join us, so sign up early to secure a space and lodging, and not miss this opportunity to photograph the unique locations and compositions that we love to share with our clients.

Yosemite winter light landscape photography workshops

Yosemite Winter and Horsetail Fall
February 21-26, 2027
$2195,  5 nights  New!
Winter can be an  enchanting time to shoot Yosemite Valley. Particularly if we get a passing storm, the photography opportunities can be spectacular! We will also be in the park on the prime nights when photographers pursue iconic shots of sunset-backlit Horsetail Fall from a couple of limited locations. Starting in 2020 all photography south of the Merced River was closed to Southside Drive when Horsetail Fall was available, but we have several new options due to the thinning of trees in Yosemite Valley. The iconic Horsetail Fall sunset shot requires sufficient snow pack above El Capitan, a warm enough day to melt the snow to feed the waterfall, and clear enough weather to the west as the sun sets for the sunlight to strike the waterfall. So having up to 5-6 evenings available greatly increases your odds of success.

Yosemite night landscape photography workshops

Yosemite Spring and Moonbows
April TBD, 2027

We time this trip to pursue lunar rainbow “moonbows” around the date of the full moon. April gives us  great timing for redbuds blooming, the early part of the dogwood bloom (before insects chew them up), and many wildflowers may be blooming. The waterfalls should be going strong, and we may have some bonus moon photography.
