One of my favorite shots on my Oregon Coast road trip ended up being on my way back, just into California at Crescent City.
On National Geographic I explain why I went out of my way to be here, at this place and time: https://yourshot.nationalgeographic.com/photos/12806549/

I used the app The Photographer’s Ephemeris on my iPhone to test the concept of a sunrise moon set over the Battery Point Lighthouse in Crescent City and it seemed to work well, so I set up shortly before sunrise to enjoy the anticipated moment as it unfolded. I also had a nice moon set alignment shot centered on the lighthouse, but I bumped the focus so it looks like I’ll have to go back and retake the shot sometime.
The lighthouse can offer a nice subject when there’s a spotlight of light on it.
