After the previous week's big storm turned me around at Yosemite as I was on my way to Big Sur, I finally saw a break in the weather last Wednesday to head back down there for 5 days. It was a great dose of photography, from dawn until well into the night, for days on end. As the Geminid meteor shower approaches its peak activity later this week, I can't wait to go do it all over again in Death Valley starting tomorrow!

Beautiful shot - love the way the rocks take me out to the sky where the final remnants of the light glimmer and beckon, while the long exposure creates the mood.

I figured the water flowing out to sea around those rocks would "lead into" the composition +Cameron Siguenza, thanks. While I was perched on these rocks... a guy came by and asked why I was there with water flowing around me... was the view from there really that much better to be worth the risk? I showed him a recent shot, how the foreground added to the composition... then I had to run as a wave washed over where I had been sitting! It was a nice composition while it lasted, but it wouldn't have been worth dunking or losing my camera over it.

+Cameron Siguenza I was just talking about that with +Lori Hibbett while we were down there... I want a dive housing with an external tripod mount, so you can take long exposures... until the next big wave. I'd wear my wet suit shooting, but I figure that's just asking for trouble unless I get the camera covered.
