San Francisco Photowalk Tonight

For the photowalk in San Francisco to be attended by 1300 people tonight, apparently Google+ events have a "party mode" which will allow people to upload photos in real time so others can follow along: https://plus.google.com/events/cm6l1qj16ktg9f8sv69ep7b2rhk

  1. Sorry +Sandra Kay, if my work becomes separated from me, the UK has just decided that my work might be taken from me:
UK's planned copyright land grab will spark US litigation 'firestorm'

The draft law is intended to ease the reuse of misleadingly named "orphan works" – misleading because most orphan works are actually recent digital images that have been stripped of their attribution, rather than old black-and-white snaps festering in library vaults*.

It's as if the UK just decided that all those songs stolen by people on Napster years ago had magically become free for anyone to profit off of (only it's my photographs they're talking about, not stolen songs). It's a bizarre case of international legal overreach,. Unfortuntely it means I have to maintain strict control over my photos and pursue anyone who makes off with them.
