The clouds were building last Friday night, so I checked the Mono Lake webcam and decided to head down there for sunset. There were helicopters and air tankers fighting a wildfire burning in the Bodie Hills. A rainbow appeared right before sunset, then the sky lit up with color, tinted with the smoke from the fire. It was a nice, diverse set of conditions which unfolded during golden hour and sunset.

+Mireille Raybaud Mono Lake is 3 times saltier than the ocean, but the white rock in the foreground is also light-colored "tufa" rock formations, calcium carbonate limestone like the stalactites and stalagmites found in a limestone cave. It is a very unique and interesting place.

+Omar I I got a lot of practice telling stories to my children every night. Eventually I involved them in the story telling, and we'd each tell the next line in the story, so everyone could steer it in a different direction. After a while they decided that they liked killing off my characters, which I'd clarify as not quite having died as the story made its way back to me. I wrote one of my stories while away on a trip, and I recent found that file on an old hard drive. I emailed it to my daughter, and she remembered it! It just goes to show that every little thing you do with children is important to their development, and every moment you can possibly spend with them is precious.
