Milky Way Rise Over Wild Iris

Last week was the time of year when the Milky Way rises relatively flat to the horizon after evening twilight.  Around the next new moon it will have risen and will be tilting up as the night progresses.

Here are a couple of all night time-lapse clips I captured on a Nevada ranch not far from Bridgeport, CA in the Eastern Sierra last Thursday night: http://youtu.be/Y1vp5EaNSoY
For one of the clips I adapted a star tracking mount to follow the Milky Way along the horizon instead of tracking the stars as they rose and tilted in the sky.
